Choosing the Site
Every property in NZ is given a legal description, summarized in a document known as the 'Certificate of Title'. Your solicitor should have already examined this on your behalf before you purchased the property.
A customer recently purchased a bare block of land with a view to buying a house for relocation. Having found a suitable house, he was devastated when the local Council would not issue a building consent due to the property having severe flooding problems. Regrettably this client lost thousands of dollars.
Obtaining Consents
A number of consents need to be applied for prior to removal of you house, or the relocation to the new site.

Choosing the House
We normally have a half dozen or so homes available for inspection in our yard. These could include permanent material homes, ex state homes, weather board houses, character bungalows, new transportable homes etc.
